As we began our first week back, Dr. Fehmida and Mr. Roshan provided us with a comprehensive overview of what to expect in the coming weeks. They outlined key milestones, important deadlines, and the overall structure of our research projects. Additionally, they took the time to address common concerns and answer questions, ensuring that we had a clear understanding of the expectations and requirements. This session was particularly helpful in setting the foundation for our work, as it clarified the steps needed to develop our ideas into well-structured proposals. Following this session, we were assigned the task of creating an initial project proposal, or "first-cut" proposal, which would serve as the basis for discussions with our supervisors.
And so, I decided to meet my supervisor, Dr. Sumitra Kotipalli, to discuss my initial idea of tracking the speed of a ball and providing players with data for comparison and analysis. Dr. Kotipalli, a senior lecturer, student advisor, and branch course coordinator who specializes in teaching various courses, read through my proposal. While the idea was approved in principle, she advised me to conduct additional research on datasets and sports analysis to strengthen the project’s foundation.
In our subsequent meeting, I presented my research findings, and Dr. Kotipalli appeared to be satisfied with the outcomes. She also provided valuable insights from her expertise, suggesting various approaches and ideas that could be implemented to further refine and enhance the project. This document outlined my project’s scope, objectives, and potential methods, serving as a starting point for further refinement and development. Click here to view the First-cut Proposal.
