In Week 14, we were introduced to Research Ethics documentation, which underscored its significance in ensuring ethical integrity throughout the research process. The session highlighted key ethical considerations involved in data collection, particularly in the context of computer science and engineering projects. Emphasis was placed on obtaining informed consent, maintaining data privacy, and upholding research integrity. We were strongly encouraged to engage in ongoing discussions with our supervisors regarding research ethics, especially in relation to our specific projects. Revisiting data collection methods was recommended to ensure compliance with ethical standards. Additionally, the timely completion and submission of the screening form were stressed, as this step is crucial for adhering to the established ethical guidelines and obtaining necessary approvals.

We were also introduced to an essential project management tool, the Gantt Chart, which plays a crucial role in structuring and managing complex projects. This chart provides a visual timeline of tasks, helping to plan and schedule activities systematically to ensure smooth project progression. It breaks the project into individual tasks, assigns deadlines, and tracks progress, making it easier to manage workloads and maintain efficiency.

The session highlighted the importance of setting realistic timelines and prioritizing tasks to prevent delays. Creating a Gantt Chart for my project has allowed me to visualize my workflow, allocate time for each phase, and ensure that every step, from dataset creation to AI model training and testing, is accounted for. Having a clear roadmap helps in maintaining accountability and staying on track. Below, I have included my Gantt Chart to showcase how I have structured my project timeline.

With regard to our project proposal, we were provided with a structured template for the final submission. This template served as a guideline to refine our proposals, incorporating feedback received from our initial submissions. The importance of addressing supervisor recommendations and making necessary improvements was emphasized to enhance the quality and feasibility of our research projects.

This week, I had a productive and insightful meeting with my supervisor, Dr. Sumitra Kotipalli, where we discussed the latest updates on my project. She provided valuable feedback on my final proposal, helping me refine key aspects and ensure alignment with research expectations. Her insights were instrumental in strengthening the proposal, and I plan to implement the suggested revisions accordingly. The final version of my proposal can be viewed here.
