The session began with an emphasis on the importance of referencing in academic writing, reinforcing the need to understand citations and in-text citations. The significance of sourcing high-quality references was highlighted, and various tools and databases were introduced for accessing scholarly papers. These resources, including IEEE papers and university library databases, were outlined as key for gathering credible research materials relevant to our projects.

Recognizing the importance of these resources, I took the initiative to explore different research databases and refined my approach to locating high-quality references. I experimented with various search strategies and, based on the project’s specific needs, generated a set of targeted keywords to optimize my search for relevant academic papers. These keywords, tailored to my project, were designed to enhance the efficiency and precision of my literature review. Here are some of the keywords I formulated:

Cricket Bowling Performance Analysis

AI-Powered Bowling Analysis

Machine Learning for Sports Analytics

Computer Vision in Cricket

Automated Ball Tracking System

Virtual Stumps Detection

Bowling Speed Calculation AI

Trajectory Analysis in Cricket

Data-Driven Coaching in Cricket

Sports Performance Optimization using AI

Cloud-Based Video Analysis for Bowling

Firebase for Sports Data Management

AI in Motion Tracking for Cricket

Cricket Bowling Biomechanics Assessment

Performance Metrics for Bowlers

To further streamline my research process, I also explored research management tools. I focused on learning how to use Mendeley, RefWorks, and Zotero for reference management. After familiarizing myself with these tools, I decided to install Mendeley and made use of its features to better organize my sources and citations for my project.

Following this, a discussion on the importance of Literature Reviews took place, explaining their crucial role in understanding existing research and building a strong foundation for my own project. Practical tips for writing a compelling literature review were shared, such as using the Point-Evidence-Explanation structure and organizing research through theme tables. I began applying these techniques to create an outline for my literature review, ensuring that it would be well-organized and comprehensive.

Overall, the session provided valuable insights and practical tools to improve my referencing skills, research efficiency, and ability to write a well-structured literature review. Mr. Roshan concluded by encouraging us to begin drafting and completing our Literature Reviews. The detailed review can be viewed here
